Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Is Las Vegas the greatest city on earth? Quite possibly. From relaxing poolside cabanas and world class shows nightly to roller coasters and casinos, Las Vegas has it all. Although it may not be a spot where you want to spend weeks at a time, it is the ultimate long weekend destination in the United States.
A true city that does not sleep, it is very easy to find something to fill your time 24 hours a day. After a morning of shopping at stores from the world’s most exclusive designers and wandering through the hotels on the strip that are closer to amusement parks than actual hotels, head to one of the great pools that have every amenity from poolside bars to lazy rivers and live entertainment. Follow that up with dinner at a world class restaurant like Nobu and catch a performance of Cirque de Soleil or Love. Late night, there are hundreds of casinos for some gambling and a ridiculous range of bars and clubs.
Because Las Vegas is primarily a tourist destination, hotels and conferences are the epicenter of the city. This means that there is quite a bit of competition, causing prices to remain reasonable. Be sure to stay on the strip in a decent location where you can walk to everything.
What many don’t realize right away is how many options there are around Las Vegas for sightseeing as well. It is quite easy to rent a car and take a day trip to the Grand Canyon or go hiking in the surrounding areas. Because of the location in the desert, it does get chilly at night in the winter, but the weather is reasonable for these activities year round.
