The Curve Bar & Sittee Marina near Hopkins, Belize

The Curve Bar at the Sittee River Marina is the best spot around Hopkins to spend an afternoon. Between the relaxed atmosphere, activities that are available, great food, interesting drinks and friendly staff, you really can’t go wrong. THe marina is located a quick car, golf cart or bike ride from Hopkins.

The Food at the Curve Bar

First, be sure to check out the specials. They always have fresh fish, depending on what their catch of the day is. While there I was able to have their grilled snapper, which was pretty incredible and was a huge amount of fish, with two fully grilled snappers served up.

The special below was avocado with shrimp on fried plantains. It was so good we ordered it twice within two days.

Location & activities

Located directly on the Sittee River, the atmosphere is fantastic. The restaurant does have a crocodile that frequents the shores and which the staff regularly feed. While we were visiting we were told that the crocodile, who is usually fed chicken, was fed pork the week before and had not returned since. Apparently, he doesn’t care for the ‘other white meat.’

From the marina you can also rent boats and kayaks. The kayaks are the best deal around, at $5 USD per hour. You can head up the Sittee River to take in the scene or through an inlet that lets you get a great look at some of the houses were built directly on the inlet.

The grounds of the marina also contain volleyball courts, picnic tables and more. It is the perfect place to spend an afternoon with friends or the family.
